Currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, ceramic artist Alwyn O’Brien (Salt Spring Island, BC) was the first recipient of the One of a Kind Show/Gardiner Museum Emerging Artist Award in 2007. Mini Bio Anatomy of a Skirt may be an odd name for a purse company! Owner and designer Erin Wilk started Anatomy of a Skirt as a reconstructed clothing line, but soon found that she preferred making and designing handbags and accessories to drafting detailed clothing patterns. By this time, the name had stuck! Erin prefers to use organic, recycled, and mill-end materials in her work. This year's designs are made from industrial wool, mill-end boiled wool, organic cotton, and mill-end vinyl. Erin's designs are quirky and full of personality with a playful edge, featuring faux bois, moustaches, and robots; as well as inspiration from Ontario's own wild creatures.
