Currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, ceramic artist Alwyn O’Brien (Salt Spring Island, BC) was the first recipient of the One of a Kind Show/Gardiner Museum Emerging Artist Award in 2007. Mini Bio I'm a design graduate that started my own practice in design and textile printing in 2006. I previously worked in design and architectural agencies but I really missed the hands on approach in the creative process. I'm inspired by architectural details, vintage decorations and fashion trends. Growing up in the countrysid influenced my sensibilities to organics forms and lines. All the art is created and is hand screenprinted by me. I use permanent water based textile inks that are machine wash resistant.
