Currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, ceramic artist Alwyn O’Brien (Salt Spring Island, BC) was the first recipient of the One of a Kind Show/Gardiner Museum Emerging Artist Award in 2007. Mini Bio I graduated from Ryerson's Fashion Design program and had been working as a designer for 7 years prior to the start of Truth. I chose belts because at that time (2001) belts had just made a huge come back. I realized I could sell them and belts were a small enough item that I could run the business from my home. Because I had never worked with leather, I used anything but. Today Truth products are sold internationally and the belts are the number one favorite among vegans and vegetarians. All the products are made in Ontario.
