Currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, ceramic artist Alwyn O’Brien (Salt Spring Island, BC) was the first recipient of the One of a Kind Show/Gardiner Museum Emerging Artist Award in 2007. Mini Bio I found the love of pottery and creativity early in life and continue to learn, build, grow and imagine through my work. Music has been a long standing passion of mine and has infiltrated my work through some of my characterized creations. My creative start began in my hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland, and continued to grow as I grew up in Montreal. I have opened three wonderful stores over the years in three cities in Eastern Canada. I continue to find inspiration in the world around me, while on nature hikes to the beach, the forest and even to the city.
