Mini Bio Doris Dyson is a University of Guelph professor and veterinary anesthesiologist, recently retired from full time work. She was presented with a "Most Creative Retirement" award from her colleagues for the new career move into woodworking and art. Rockinghorses and moose were perfect gifts for animal lovers in her life and now are made for others to purchase. Doris specializes in incorporating reclaimed elements in her home decor. Repurposed spindles are commonly found in her crafts (spindle people, candles, flag hangers, drying racks, blackboards). Garden/ deck furniture and accents have become a large portion of her effort lately. Rustic, country and cottage styles predominate her work as she finds inspiration in her cottage life on Lake Belwood. Many of her creations are inspired by the outdoors, using natural elements like logs.
